В песне нет припева, но во всех трёх частях последние две строчки начинаются словами «all in all» (с англ. — «в целом, в итоге») и оканчиваются словами «in the wall» (с англ. — «в стену, в стене»; речь идёт о том, что всё вышеперечисленное стало ещё одним кирпичом в стене отчуждения).\r\n<\/p><p>Персонажи «Стены» универсальны, и в каком-то смысле историю Пинка Флойда в той или иной степени переживал и переживает каждый из нас. Возводя вокруг себя стены, мы разрушаем их. Живем ли мы своей собственной жизнью? Возводим ли мы стену из препятствий, или разрушаем ее? Кульминация альбома- внутренний суд.\r\nЧеловек беспомощен на этом льду жизни- и герой начинает возводить стену, которая отгородит его от всех неприятностей.\r\n<\/p><p>Стена- физическая иллюстрация психологической изоляции Уотерса.
