The album of paintings presented in the Stargift collection is the first issue of a visual textbook on the history of the USSR for grades VIII and IX of secondary school, edited by A.K. Kondratiev with a circulation of 25,000 copies in 1941.

The album of 62 reproductions was produced in a special case and was accompanied by a separate booklet with an explanatory text for the teacher. It mainly presents reproductions of works from the exhibition "Russian Historical Painting", organized by the State Tretyakov Gallery. Among the reproductions are paintings and graphic works by A.M. and V.M. Vasnetsov, Repin, Serov, Surikov, Lancere, Aivazovsky, Ivanov, Lebedev, Benoit, Lissner and other famous artists who revealed the historical genre in their work. All reproductions are made at a high polygraphic level. Each sheet is provided with an additional reference indicating the author, the title of the work, and the collection from which it originates.
