The autograph of the famous Soviet test pilot is located on a document related to the attempt to set a world altitude record on a land plane. With this flight on July 17, 1936, Kokkinaki brought the first international record to Soviet aviation. Until now, the international altitude record on a land plane with a commercial load of 500 kilograms belonged to the French pilot Signerin, who on September 21, 1932, on a Breguet-198 aircraft, climbed to an altitude of 10285 meters.
"I decided to launch an "offensive" on the world record table. We had to work hard because Soviet aviation entered the world stage without any "record baggage," Vladimir Konstantinovich later recalled. From that moment on, our pilots gave the country a huge "record baggage", and today Russia occupies one of the leading places in the world in terms of the number of aviation records won. Kokkinaki himself has 24 world records on various types of aircraft
