Bust of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, USSR, Sverdlovsk Iron Foundry, author Ermakov, 1960s. Cast iron, casting, dyeing. The brand "HSPs" in the diamond, used until 1962.
The Sverdlovsk Iron Foundry was founded in 1956 on the basis of the Sverdlovsk artel "Foundry". The models (more precisely, the "molds") were provided by the Kasli plant. The unexpected success in the market was the signal for the renaming of the artel into the Sverdlovsk Iron Foundry.
A year later, several sculptors from the Sverdlovsk Art and Production Workshops of the RSFSR Art Fund, including V.F. Ermakov, were involved in the creation of new models. Before its closure, the plant underwent several production upgrades and one renaming, becoming the Sverdlovsk Art Casting Plant in 1966. The closure of the plant took place in 1970, and the reasons are still not completely clear.
