Leather case for playing backgammon with a handle (case, backgammon, cubes), color: white, "crocodile", Italy

Backgammon (other common names: backgammon, backgammon, tavla, shesh-besh, kosha) is a board game for two players on a special board divided into two halves. The goal of the game is to roll the dice and move the checkers according to the points that fall out, pass the checkers full circle on the board, enter your house with them (sometimes the street name of the hut appears) and throw them over the board before the opponent does. There are two main varieties - long and short backgammon. Backgammon is an ancient oriental game. The birthplace of this game is not exactly known, but it is known that people have been playing this game for more than 5,000 years, which has historical evidence. Thus, the oldest backgammon board was found on the territory of Iran (in Shahri Sukht) and dates back to about 3000 years BC. An analogue of this game was discovered in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun (XV BC). Although the roots of backgammon go back to the East, the rules of the most common modern version of the game in Europe Backgammon was established in 1743 by Englishman Edmond Hoyle. This variant is called "Short Backgammon" (as opposed to the older "Long Backgammon" invented in the East) or "Backgammon". According to one version, the name "Backgammon" is formed from the English words "back" and "game" and is due to the fact that the opponent's checker, being beaten, returned back. Another version connects the name "Backgammon" with the Gali words "Baec" (small) and "Gammit" (battle), which resemble the meaning of the Persian words "Takhte Nard". Today, backgammon is widely popular all over the world. Backgammon clubs and international tournaments are held in all major capitals of the world.
