Ayn Rand (1905-1982) is our former compatriot, who became an iconic American writer. He is the author of four best-selling novels and numerous articles. The creator of a philosophical concept based on the principle of free will, the primacy of rationality and the "morality of reasonable selfishness."
Socialists are coming to power in the United States and the government is heading for "equal opportunities", considering it fair to make the worthless and untalented rich at the expense of the talented and wealthy. The persecution of business leads to the destruction of the economy, and one by one, under mysterious circumstances, talented people and the best entrepreneurs begin to disappear. The main characters of the novel Steel king Hank Rearden and vice president of the railway company Dagny Taggert are trying in vain to resist the tragic events. Instead of general prosperity, society is plunging into apathy and chaos.
This is a book that changes the worldview, it forms a holistic vision of the world and provides answers to questions about the meaning of human life and the social significance of entrepreneurship.
