The letter from Korolev Sergei Pavlovich, dated 1956, is addressed to the Soviet scientist in the field of rocket and space technology Bushuev Konstantin Davydovich. Judging by the date, we are talking about the preparation of the launch of the first satellite in 1957. The text mentions many personalities who played an important role in the development of cosmonautics: Valentin Petrovich Glushko, Sergey Osipovich Okhapkin, Dmitry Ilyich Kozlov, Semyon Fillipovich Parmuzin and others.

Valentin Petrovich Glushko is one of the pioneers of rocket and space technology, the founder of the Soviet liquid rocket engine building. Powerful Glushko rocket engines were installed on most of the first and second stages of Soviet launch vehicles and many combat rockets; they provided the launch of the first Soviet artificial Earth satellites into orbit, flights by Yuri Gagarin and other Soviet cosmonauts, launches of automatic interplanetary stations to the Moon and planets of the Solar System.

Sergey Osipovich Okhapkin is a Soviet scientist and designer in the field of rocket and space technology development. Since 1948, at the suggestion of Sergei Korolev, Sergei Okhapkin was appointed head of the strength sector of NII-88, dealt with the dynamics and strength of aircraft structures, and from 1954 to 1966 he was deputy chief designer of OKB-1, supervised all issues related to technical documentation on the development of rocket and space technology. Since 1956, Okhapkin has been the head of a group of designers to create a rocket head fairing to protect the first artificial Earth satellite from the effects of the atmosphere at its launch site.

Semyon Filippovich Parmuzin is a specialist in the field of ballistic support for launch vehicles and spacecraft. He connected his life with OKB-1 under the leadership of Sergei Pavlovich Korolev. He participated in most of the design work and subsequent tests of products created within the walls of the Design Bureau.

The text of the letter:

"Dear Konstantin Davydovich,

1) When leaving Moscow, I apparently forgot to tell Valentin Petrovich which of his units should be supplied to us in a forced version. My opinion is that in the accelerated version it is necessary to supply all its units starting from the first bench for the database, etc.

I ask you to inform him officially about this.

Consult with Serg. Osipovich and Dmitry Ilyich, but I have coordinated all this with them. If necessary, Pyotr Fedorovich suggests throttling the forced unit for the DBU or CDU stand.

But I don't think that such a need would arise. A slight decrease in the margin of safety, it seems to me, is not significant. The main advantage of using forced units immediately from the beginning, even from the database stand, etc., is that we immediately get the answer we need on the main working units and modes (forced).

I ask you to give an official request to Val. To Petrovich.

2) Call Georgy Nikolaevich and find out from him the number of the decree on the installation of HF in our country. Let Andrey Ivanovich start organizing all this.

The HF should be installed in the reception room of the Office in the secretariat, in a separate, thoroughly made booth with an automatic lock.

I believe that the comrades who will install the HF will agree to this.

3) Here are the "thoughts" that have not yet begun - maybe they are bright: What if we blow the model while in the "separation" mode (i.e. at the appropriate high-speed pressure) and simulate separation by means of a mechanism, or even pneumatics. It seems to me that such a thing can be invented. Assign someone to the department. No. 3 to puzzle over this, - Parmusin, for example.

That's all about business.

We are having a wonderful rest, although it is still quite cold here.

Don't think that I think about things a lot - no! They're all a remnant of old thoughts..

I firmly shake your hand - Hello to the CPU - he has obviously already returned and to all our comrades.

Greetings from N. And you and from both of us to Zoya Fyodorovna."
